RADICAL LIVING By Abigail Wakefield
I have set my eye “to be single.” What does that mean? Singularly focused on Jesus, knowing that He is the one thing my heart de- sires. When my heart is flooded with Him, His light will be the thing that spills forth from me. I desire for the people around me to know His love, His presence, and His power. If I remain hidden in the secret place, He will shine forth.
Charles Dickens wrote in A Tale of Two Cities, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom,it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of de- spair.”
Who knew he was a pro- phet? We are staring into the annals of eternity and some of us recognize it while some remain ignorant. The global landscape is shouting that two kingdoms are in violent opposition to one another, escalating toward a trium- phant culmination. Students of the Word are not in shock at current events, but rather, seated in anticipation, bowed in prayer, standing in ova- tion... We all have a part to play in this last Great Awak- ening, and the part is as- toundingly simplistic. If we are awake, we are to facili- tate the opening of blind eyes. The Bible says “the god of this world hath blinded the minds...” The ‘god of this world’ is a refer- ence to Satan, because he dwells in the realm of the flesh. In other words, if we are principally motivated by things, by materialism, by what we can receive or effort our way into, then we have given him power over us that obscures our vision. Whether we are deliberately blind or blind by default, we are still blind. We need our vision to be awakened to the things of God.
God has a purpose for each of our lives - a grand weaving together of the Cloth of the Ages. Shake- speare said it this way in As You Like It: “All the world’s a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their en- trances...”
Observations across time lead some men into rev- elation in their own age, and other men only enter in as they are exiting the stage. My hope, and the hope of many, is that the veil will be removed sooner rather than later, that all people may enter in to the joy of the Lord in their lifetime, and that their joy may be made full by His appearance in their hearts and then through their lives to the ones around them who look to them for guidance. Some of us only had cor- rupted versions of men and women to look upon while we were being shaped as children, but there is a Father in heaven who is longing for sons and daugh- ters to look to Him. If you have the light of Christ within you, shine! If you have not, then look to Him who will fill you without
delay.
