     RADICAL LIVING By Abigail Wakefield
In the Old Testament the Holy Spirit rested on or “came upon” people that God designated for a spe- cific assignment. The pro- phets, like Isaiah and Ezekiel, Elijah and Elisha had notable ministries. Isaiah and Ezekiel “heard the word of the Lord” and had vi- sions, writing all that He spoke to them on scrolls that have been incorporated into
our Bible. They are referred to as “major prophets” be- cause of the length of their books. Elijah and Elisha had ministries that were ear- marked by signs and wonders. They “heard” and then acted, calling fire down from heaven, raising people from the dead, creating fam- ine by stopping the rain, and then deluges by praying for the rain to come. There are many accounts of their mi- racles for us to study.
We tend to look upon their lives as greater than ours, primarily because they are recorded for the ages. Jesus said that John the Baptist was “the greatest of all the prophets” because he actually saw and announced the Messiah. Jesus went on to say that John would be lesser in the Kingdom of heaven than all of us. Our generation can now be filled with the Holy Spirit, from the inside of our beings, be- cause of Jesus’ crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension. When He ascended He said “...if I do not go, the Father cannot send Another...”
The Holy Spirit within us is the triumphant entry of Christ into man. He now can dwell in anyone who be- lieves. The impact of this knowledge has been lost on most of us, and as a con- sequence we do not enter into the fullness of His power. The literal “resurrection power” of God is resident within you and I. We need to learn how to access it and release it into our own bodies (for healing) and into the people around us to

meet their needs. We have the ultimate gift of His life, but most of us are still oper- ating as beggars to a far off God in the sky who may grant our prayers if we per- form well enough to please him, or who may turn a deaf ear if we disappoint or anger Him.
This is such a gross mis- interpretation of His person, and yet it is handed down from many pulpits on any given Sunday morning. Our doctrines have blinded us to the truth. The truth is that He exchanged our sin, sickness, disease, and demonic intru- sion for His own righteous- ness on the Cross. He died for us so that He can now live IN us. When God looks on us today, He sees us through the blood of Jesus, whole and forgiven. Sons and daughters. We have been bequeathed His own power to raise the dead, cast out demons, heal the sick, and bind up the broken hearted. We need to get busy becoming the prophets of today, hearing and obey- ing, writing, and acting upon His instructions. When He returns for us He will be look- ing for those of us who are operating in His own faith.
