The power of the seed of God’s word spoken to you or to me must be stewarded properly or the con- sequences can be cata- strophic. When He speaks, He is releasing Kingdom re- sources into the earthly realm that have the power to create from the eternal into the temporal. That is why we must guard against other voices, even those who ap- pear to be speaking “in our best interests.” He alone sees and knows all, and
when He speaks He is speaking from that sovereign knowledge that even the best of earthly advisors can- not know.
It is also important to eliminate the voice of Satan. His voice produces fear and doubt. All the “What if’s?” come from him. His only job is to “steal, kill, and destroy,” and his wrath is great be- cause his time is short. He knows that if he can get us to doubt what we heard then the impetus will be lost and the reward for obedience will be also.
I’m sure you have met people who have said “I knew. I heard this small voice tell me what to do, but I ignored it. Man, I wish I had listened!” If not, let me intro- duce you to my own story. Many years ago my husband and I were considering going to dinner on a Saturday night, and I felt this strong urge in my spirit to stay
home. I had never experi- enced anything like this com- pulsion before so I was stymied by it. I couldn’t get away from the strength of it and I had no peace about leaving the house. Our neighbors had invited us, and everyone else wanted to go. I reiterated to him several times that I did not want to go, even though I had no natural reasoning for saying no. He persisted, and I gave in. I walked into my closet to put on my shoes, and I said out loud “God, what is my problem? Are we going to be in an accident if we leave the house?” Fifteen minutes later that is exactly what hap- pened. We were headed out of town and a man was trav- eling into town in a hurry be- cause he was running late. Someone pulled out in front of him and he switched lanes to avoid collision. He over- corrected, and he swerved

across the median into our lane and hit us head-on. There was no reaction time. I glimpsed him right before impact - my husband, who was driving, later said “I never saw him coming.” The man who hit us died on im- pact. I got out of our totaled vehicle saying “God, forgive me!” I was accustomed to hearing God’s voice, but I had never experienced this type of Holy Ghost restraint with no words before, and I failed to obey. God knew what I didn’t, and had we stayed home that evening I never would have known what catastrophe was averted. But He knew. As it
was, I and many others were left to grieve over the loss of a man’s life.
